The Siemens OptiPoint 500 telephones come in several models from the Entry Telephone to the Basic and Standard. They work with the HiPath 3000 and HiPath 4000 telephone PBX systems.
Siemens Hicom was a family of on-premises business telephone systems used widely in offices, hotels, government facilities, and large enterprises from the 1980s through the early 2000s. The range included smaller systems such as the Hicom 100/116 series and large modular enterprise PBXs such as the Hicom 300 and 300E. They supported proprietary digital phones, analog devices, ISDN and analog trunks, direct inward dialing, call transfer and forwarding, hunt groups, attendant consoles, voicemail integration, call accounting, paging, conferencing, and—in some configurations—hotel functions such as room status, check-in/check-out, and wake-up calls. Larger Hicom 300 systems could serve thousands of extensions and were designed for multi-site and international corporate networks.
Technically, Hicom systems were primarily card-based, TDM/digital PBXs rather than modern native SIP/IP platforms. Siemens eventually moved the product line into the HiPath family and later to the OpenScape systems. Many Hicom installations still operate because they are dependable and already paid for, but they can be difficult to support due to aging hardware, limited availability of spares and trained technicians, legacy carrier connections, and limited compatibility with modern UC, cloud VoIP, and SIP services. When replacing one, it is important to inventory all phones, trunks, room phones, lift and alarm lines, fax devices, paging, voicemail, and hotel or other third-party integrations before selecting a hosted or on-premises IP replacement.
Siemens Hicom systems were replaced by the HiPath product line in the late 1990s and early 2000s, making Hicom 100, 150, and 300 platforms long obsolete and no longer supported by the manufacturer. The later HiPath 3000 family—including the 3300, 3350, 3500, 3550, 3750, and 3800 reached end of life back in 2016, with Siemens/Unify support ending in 2017. Refurbished hardware, replacement cards, and independent maintenance may still be available, but these systems no longer have official manufacturer support.

Siemens Saturn Manuals
Siemens Saturn was an older "electronic private automatic branch
exchange (EPABX)" family used to provide internal business telephone
service, predating Siemens Hicom and HiPath systems. Saturn systems used
proprietary DYAD digital telephones and supported business calling
features accessed through phone buttons and feature codes. Here you can
download these older PDFs which include Saturn OC1E and Saturn IIE user,
system description, and installation/test guides from the mid-1980s.
Today, Siemens Saturn equipment is long obsolete and beyond manufacturer
support, but manuals can still be useful for maintaining an existing
installation, identifying telephone features, or documenting the system
before installing a replacement system.
