Factory Reset Instructions for Polycom and Yealink IP Phones
There will be instances when a factory reset is needed for an IP phone. Completing a factory reset is quick, easy and puts the phone back to the original settings without any localized settings, which are wiped out during the process. Below you'll find instructions for many of the popular SIP compliant VoIP phones that you might come across.
Factory Reset Instructions for Polycom Phones
Polycom IP 320, 321, 330, 331, 335, 430, 450, 560, and 7000 and 301, 501, 550, 600, 601, 650, 670 models.

Start by first by making sure the phone is on and powered up.
- Start by power cycling the phone to force a reboot. As soon as the Welcome message appears on the screen, press and hold down the 1, 3, 5, and 7 buttons for Polycom models 320, 321, 330, 331, 335, 430, 450, 560 and 7000) or the 4, 6, 8, * for Polycom models 301, 501, 550, 600, 601, 650, 670.
- Once the Enter Password message appears release the keys.
- Next Enter the admin password to proceed with the factory reset. The password is 456 by default then OK. NOTE: If 456 does not work try the MAC address located on the back of the phone.)
For some Polycom models:
- With the phone powered up, press the Menu Button then navigate using the scroll buttons to select Settings, then Advanced.
- At the Password press 456, then Enter. Next Enter Admin Settings using the navigation Check key.
- Scroll down to Reset to Factory and select using the Check key. You should see Rest to Factory? on the screen, at which point you need to confirm by selecting Yes. This will start the Reboot sequence and factory reload.
Resetting a Polycom Phone when the default password 456 doesn't work.
The following steps will work to reset your Polycom phone when the default password, 456, does not work:
- Locate the MAC address on the rear of the phone and write it down. If for some reason the MAC address cannot be read, alternatively, you can press Menu, Status, Network, Ethernet, and it should display.
- Power off the phone.
- Power the phone back up.
- During the countdown screen complete the following: For SoundPoint IP Phones 320, 321, 330, 331, 335, 430 and 450 press and hold the 1, 3, 5, and 7 keys simultaneously. For SoundPoint IP Phones 301, 501, 550, 600, 601, and 650 press and hold the 4, 6, 8, * keys simultaneously.
- After a couple of seconds, a prompt should appear to enter the admin password. Enter the MAC address (No colons, lower case.).
- Your phone should currently accept the password 456.
Factory Reset Instructions for Yealink Phones
Yealink IP Phones T20P, T22P, T26P, T28P, T32G, T38G and Others

Start by first by making sure the phone is on and powered up.

Press
and hold down the OK button for 10 seconds at which time the display
will appear with a warning of Reset to Factory. - Press the OK softkey on the display to accept the reset.
- The phone will restore itself to factory default settings, without the need the admin password. After the display shows Initializing it can take any where up to a minute or two before it completes the reset at which time it will be ready for any new configurations that you might want to do.
- For access to advance settings once the phone has been factory reset, the default password is admin. (Remember that using the numbered keys to spell admin would be 23644466.)
